WHEN Vincent Ho proposed to his girlfriend at Watsons Bay this week he brought new meaning to the term taking the plunge.
The 34-year-old from Croydon planned an elaborate underwater marriage proposal to his partner Taoran Wang, 27, popping the question during a scuba dive.
Once the pair were on the ocean floor, Mr Ho got down on bended fin and produced a sign made from an old t-shirt that read: “Will u marry me?” before pulling out a one-carat, round-cut diamond ring from a waterproof wallet. She didn’t swim away.
“You can’t say anything because you’re underwater, but she didn’t signal ‘go up’, she didn’t swim away, she didn’t take off the oxygen mask, so I assumed it was a yes,” Mr Ho said.
The only setback was, having spent the morning underwater, Ms Wang’s fingers had swollen up.

“We couldn’t fit the ring on at first, but eventually we got it on,” Mr Ho said.
