A PILOT was arrested on suspicion of being drunk just moments before he boarded a plane a Birmingham airport in the UK.

The pilot, 51, was meant to be flying hundreds of passengers to their holiday destination on Thomson Airways.

Instead, he found himself in the cells.

The incident occurred on February 10, but details have only just been released.

A police spokesman told UK’s Telegraph: “A 51-year old man was arrested on suspicion of being unfit to perform aviation duties due to drink.”

The pilot was released without charge, however, a spokesperson for Thomson said he had been suspended from his job.

A Thomson spokesperson told  ITV News: “Thomson Airways is aware that allegations of an aviation offence brought against one of our pilots have been dropped.
