MANY of us go to great lengths in a bid to capture the perfect holiday snap, but few would go as far as this photographer.

Jun Ahn, from South Korea, lives life on the ledge, dangling off some of the world’s tallest skyscrapers to create dizzying self-portraits.

The series of daring photographs show Jun sitting and standing near the edge of the buildings while peering below, sticking her legs out of windows high above, and even appearing to jump from the top.

She began taking the extreme images in 2008, using a self-timer to capture the death-defying acts. She takes as many images as possible per second until the memory card is full.

She then picks one or two of the best, where her body “looks peaceful or aggressive, not fearful”.

Occasionally she uses a harness, for the more dangerous shoots.

Her love of the high life has seen her scale 14 skyscrapers and buildings in her home city of New York and Hong Kong.

Jun insists the photos are real and says she embraces the danger.

“People always ask whether the images are real and in all these pictures I was actually there, not photoshopped,” she said. “Of course it is not a safe situation. But I always try to be careful.”

She said few people from the ground below noticed what she was doing.

“I was surprised that not many people look up when they were walking on the street.”

Jun has had solo art shows in St Petersburg and Seoul, with another lined up in Hong Kong this year, as well as one in Japan. Her works have been exhibited around the world.

She’s not the only one to have ventured to extreme heights for a great photo. Check out artist Navid Baraty’s amazing shots of New York from above.
