Forget First Class, These Celebrities Fly Coach

Some celebrities have the luxury of hopping on their private jets to get from place to place. Others opt to sit in first class on commercial flights. But, believe it or not, there are some stars who fly with the masses … in coach.

That’s right, you could be on a flight from JFK to LAX and accidentally run right into Claire Danes. (I know, it’s a dream of ours too).

From Ed Burns to Jessica Alba, here are some stars who’ve been caught flying coach.

  • Jessica Alba

According to RadarOnline.com, a href=”http://radaronline.com/exclusives/2012/10/jessica-alba-nanny-kids-fly-first-class/”Alba sat coach on a flight recently/a while her daughters lived the luxurious life. “Everyone was doing a double take, seeing Jessica Alba sitting in coach, while her kids and nanny were in first class,” a passenger on the plane said.

  • Claire Danes

“a href=”http://www.extratv.com/2011/01/31/sag-winner-claire-danes-flies-coach/”I’m flying tonight on coach/a,” the “Homeland” star told Extra backstage at the SAG Awards in 2011. “I know, I know, I feel like I’m bragging now at this point. It’s the only seat available, and I have to go back to work tomorrow morning.”

  • Sean “P. Diddy” Combs

“But right now, can you believe it, I am actually flying commercial,” a href=”http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,413582,00.html”Diddy confessed/a in 2008. “That’s how high gas prices are, so I feel you. Look, I’m at the gate right now!”

  • Blake Lively

In 2009, Blake and her then-boyfriend Penn Badgely were seen a href=”http://celebrity-gossip.net/celebrities/hollywood/blake-lively-and-penn-badgley-fly-coach-212533″checking in at the Premium Economy (coach) counter/a, rather than First Class at LAX.

  • Katie Holmes Suri Cruise

Back in July, E! News reported that a href=”http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/07/26/katie-holmes-divorce-suri_n_1706209.html”Katie and Suri headed to Katie’s native Ohio via a commercial flight/a, following her split from Tom Cruise.

  • Glenn Close

A passenger on her flight confessed that a href=”http://queercents.com/2006/08/01/glenn-close-clips-coupons/”Glenn sat in the middle seat/a on a JetBlue flight from Portland, Maine to JFK.

  • Chris O’Donnell

Chris told Men’s Vogue a href=”http://celebritybabies.people.com/2008/05/22/chris-o-donnell-2/”about his decision to fly coach/a with his five kids. “I used to put a cap on, and sunglasses, but now I just run down the aisle chasing the kids. ‘Yep, it’s me. Here I am, Folks. 24C!’” he revealed. “Going first-class with a crowd like ours, you’re taking over two full rows. It’s almost the same cost as flying private.”

  • Nicky Hilton

A fellow passenger on Nicky’s flight said a href=”http://basicallybecky.com/2010/09/my-flight-with-a-hilton-and-a-greasy-bear/”she sat in a middle seat in coach/a. “Sitting in seat 10E (a middle seat, 4 rows back from me in row 6) was Nicky, playing Scrabble on her iPad with the guy next to her on the aisle: Brandon Davis.”

  • Teresa Giudice

HollywoodLife.com spotted the a href=”http://hollywoodlife.com/2012/09/23/real-housewives-of-new-jersey-teresa-giudice-plane-pic/”Real Housewife flying coach to Charlotte, N.C.,/a in Sept. 2012.

  • Ed Burns

A reporter for USA Today saw a href=”http://content.usatoday.com/communities/livefrom/post/2012/09/ed-burns-flies-coach-and-other-toronto-tidbits-/1#.UQgfNaGLxTE”Ed flying coach to Toronto/a in Sept. 2012 for the film festival. “Already, it’s been something of a star-studded journey. Ed Burns, clad in shades and a Giants cap, was on our flight – in coach. Big props, Mr. Burns, for slumming it with the rest of us.”

  • American Ferrera

A reporter for the 2011 Sundance Film Festival witnessed a href=”http://blogstage.backstage.com/2011/01/sundance-11-notes-america-ferrara-flies-coach.html”America taking her seat on a flight from JFK to Salt Lake City/a. “The “Ugly Betty” actor is a juror for this year’s U.S. dramatic competition and presumably had to book her travel last minute (or was paying tribute to the new SAG TV-film deal guidelines), because she was rode to Utah in the back with the rest of us normies,” he wrote on Backstage Blog Stage. “As she stepped onto the plane this morning and turned toward coach, we had to restrain ourselves from leaning over and whispering, ‘Miss, you’re facing the wrong direction.’ But then Ferrera made her way down the aisle and toward her seat, doling out hellos and even a couple high-fives to her fellow passengers. You could feel the morale of everyone on the proletariat side of the curtain shoot up. Sure, you rich people in first class may have your free breakfast and your extra leg room and your complementary foot massages (or whatever it is that you’re paying for), but we’ve got the girl from “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” back here. Suck it.”
