The leader in cruises along the Norwegian coast is offering discounts on select 2013 departures.
Norway-based Hurtigruten’s new “Alaska Past Passenger” promotion offers 50% off brochure rates for the second passenger in a cabin — a savings of $750 to $8,917, depending on cabin category.
Despite the name of the promotion, the offer is not contingent on a customer having sailed in Alaska. But for those who have been to Alaska on a cruise and loved it, the line is touting the Norway coast as a just-as-majestic follow up.

“If you liked cruising Alaska, you will love Norway,” Hurtigruten sales director for the Americas Rolf Logan says in a statement accompanying news of the sale.
Founded more than a century ago to carry freight and passengers along the Norwegian coast, Hurtigruten offers six-, seven-, 11- and 12-day voyages along the country’s western shoreline between the UNESCO-listed harbor town of Bergen and Kirkenes, high above the Arctic Circle. The line’s ships stop in 34 Norwegian ports in all, from small villages to larger cities. Hurtigruten also offers expedition-style trips to Antarctica, Greenland and the Arctic’s Spitsbergen.
