FOOTAGE has emerged showing a packed passenger plane on fire after being struck by lightning.
The incident forced the Turkish Airlines plane, which was carrying 114 passengers from Istanbul to Izmir, Turkey, to make an emergency landing, the Daily Mail reported.
A passenger sitting near the wing of the plane captured footage of the burning engine, with sparks and flames clearly visible.
Meanwhile, video taken from the ground shows a trail of fire coming from the plane.
The lightning struck as the pilot was preparing to land the plane at Izmir airport. Gasps could be heard from shocked passengers as the lights went off.
Locals rushed to the airport for news of the plane.
It landed safely and nobody was injured.
