SCOOT airlines will now stream movies straight to passengers’ tablets and laptops. But it will cost you.
Scoot airlines CEO Campbell Wilson said the airline would offer blockbuster movies and popular television shows on its 35 Asian routes.
Previously, on board entertainment on the budget airline has been strictly BYO. But now passengers will be able to use their laptops and tablets to pick up the movies using their Wifi.
“Scoot is excited to be the first airline in Asia to offer this innovative inflight entertainment option. Going wireless keeps our aircraft lighter, our costs down and our fares cheaper,”Mr Wilson said
As airlines look to cut costs, Scoot’s bring your own television plan could be the way of the future.
Many full cost airlines such as Qantas already offer Wifi movie streaming as well as on board televisions and entertainment systems. Scoot is the first to offer it without televisions on board.
